Here’s unit test 2 for lessons 26-50 from 100 Bible Stories. We’ll be hitting those lessons pretty hard for the remainder of the year. This test includes three or four questions out of each of lessons 26-50, and are straight out of the workbook. If you’ve been paying attention in class and filling in your workbook, you’ll do fine here!

This weekend, we were blessed to publicly receive 34 new members plus their children, and rejoiced in the adult confirmation of 1 more! Praise God who gives us new life in Christ! Here are the pictures:

This side of heaven, errors are bound to happen. In your syllabus, there is a problem with the dating. Here is the updated Syllabus:

We’ll hand this out tonight to all of the students.

Also, tonight we’re beginning the 5th Chief Part of the Catechism, Confession and Absolution. That means we finished the unit on Baptism, and it’s time for the Baptism Discussion Exam. We’ll hand that out too, but here it is:

Midweek for December 7, 2011

Almost Christmas time and the year is flying by.

A couple of things to point out this week:

First of all, Term Quiz 2C was never passed out. This was an oversight. We won’t be requiring it but you can download it here if you’d like to use it anyway.

Second, Term Quiz 3 was accidentally let off the syllabus. This also will not be required. Here it is if you’d like to use it.

Finally, Discussion Exam 3 over the Lord’s Prayer was on the syllabus for last week, but we didn’t hand it out because of the shortened class time. It’s assigned this week and is available for download here:

With that turned in next week, we should be all caught up.

You should have received progress reports in the mail last week. Please take look at those and let us know if you have any questions or concerns (some of you already have!). Soon it’ll be spring and we’ll be thinking about confirmation! Keep up the hard work.

Midweek for November 9, 2011

We’re due for another Discussion Exam as we finish with the 3rd article and the Apostles Creed. By now, your students should be able to recite the 10 commandments, all three articles of the Apostles Creed, and meanings. Quiz them and see!

Here is Discussion Exam 2C PDF. To the parents that have been keeping up an encouraging your children to keep up, we can’t thank you enough! To the parents whose children have fallen behind, please work to catch up. All the exams and quizzes are available here for download. Let Pastor Troester or Pastor Brown know if we can help!

Oh one more thing. In the 7th grade classroom, we’ve been keeping a class score. When a student is present for class, they get a point. When their team wins a game, they get a point. When they correctly answer a really hard question or ask an excellent question, they get a point. Tonight will be the fourth week keeping score, and I want to recognize the top 3 students so far.

1st Place: Megan (16 pts)
2nd Place: Jennifer (10 pts)
3rd Place: Collette (7 pts)

Competition is intense and positions change weekly! Keep it up!

Wow, it’s week 9 already! For the 7th and 8th graders, invitations went out a couple of days ago to for the fall Invitational Party. Every 7th and 8th grader who has missed no more than two of the 16 classes (Wednesday and Sunday) without prior excuse was sent an invitation. Please note that our next reward party will be before Christmas. Invitations will be based on attendance and class work between now and then, so if you didn’t make this one, don’t give up!

This week we’ll finish with the 2nd article of the creed. By now, your students should have the 10 commandments and meanings pretty well memorized, and also the first article and meaning. After this week, your student should also have the second article and the complete meaning memorized. The quizzes we did last week showed a lot of room for improvement! Those also are in the mail.

Because the 2nd article is being completed this week, we’re due for another term quiz and discussion exam. Those can be downloaded here:

Some of our students are beginning to fall behind in turning in their work. Please work with your child to help them catch up! As always, let us know if there is anything we can do to help you help your children learn the faith.

This week’s quiz is a little different. It should be pretty easy and shouldn’t take more than 5 minutes or so. If you’re falling behind, please work to catch up – our first invitational party is fast approaching and we want to have as many there as possible!

Here we are at another week of midweek! This Wednesday night, we’ll finish up our discussion over the First Article of the Creed. We’ll hand out the new Discussion Exam (2A) and a Term Quiz (2A), both for the First Article. You can also download those documents right here. Also, please do return the Parent Feedback Form. Our midweek program is a work in progress, and we definitely want to hear your ideas and concerns as we go along! Thanks again for all of your input and hard work.
